Actually, a parishioner said that, not the pastor.

Thanks for the clarification. Whatever the case, everyone who went is looking for trouble.

Just want to give credit where credit is due. Grown-ups are allowed to make their own decisions, so I'm not going to judge. I wouldn't have gone, but to each their own.

I am. Because its so nonsensical. Its like the boy who goes to a bar and get picked up by several men and then thinks" Nothing will happen to me cause god is going to prevent this disease (HIV)". So he doesn't wear a condom.
These people will be the ones spreading this disease, and even if I don't judge, they're still gonna do it.

So, did they shut down the HEB? Was no one else out and about in the whole area? I don't know for sure, but I highly doubt that everyone in town stayed cooped up in their homes. I see what you're saying about spreading the disease, but you're going to blame it all on the church-goers? GMAB
And I'm not sure how many "boys" who have sex with several men they pick up in a bar are really counting on God much.

No, this is not your typical flue...when the Center of Disease gets involved you better pay attention...
The media is doing their job in informing people of the dangers of the Swine flu can do.
Research what happened in 1919 when 40 millions people got wiped out world wide.

It may have symptoms that fall in the "standard flu" category, but the issue is the rate of mutation. From what I've read (both media and CDC/WHO), the mutation rate with H1N1 (the strain that includes swine flu) is not high when contained in the pig population. However, they've seen increased mutation rates when going from pig to human, and higher rates human-to-human.
In all actuality, it doesn't matter what the "disease" is. We could be looking at a severe winter cold pandemic and the results could be the same. Americans (IMHO) for the most part don't have to worry as much as those in poorer countries. Those with little to no healthcare access will be undoubtedly worse off than those with good health coverage and a hospital within reach.
Sure, the media is latching on to this as they do most "end of the world" stories, but this time there may be some merit to it. Those in the emergency management community have been working towards a plan for such an event--now let's see if the plans actually work.
