From what I am hearing. The flu maybe lie dormant in people for up to a month so many people who have traveled or been around people who have been infected might not know. I have some "well off" connected pareents of friends who are making their children and grandchildren get special shots.
Take this information for what it is. Just a guy talking about what he heard.

I know that's OT, but it's so cute.
Someone needs to tell that kid to cook it before eating.

Back to the subject on hand. I beleive the reason there is so much media hype is that there have been tons of deaths in Mexico and they feared it would be the same here. The virus seems to be dieing down, so there is less cause for alarm and people are starting to feel safer.. Eventually, the hype will go down once people realize that nobody is dieing from it, here in the U.S.

Well, time to change the name of the thread as it is no longer being called the 'swine flu'...

Quote:
GENEVA – The World Health Organization announced Thursday it will would stop using the term "swine flu" to avoid confusion over the danger posed by pigs. The policy shift came a day after Egypt began slaughtering thousands of pigs in a misguided effort to prevent swine flu.

WHO spokesman Dick Thompson said the agriculture industry and the U.N. food agency had expressed concerns that the term "swine flu" was misleading consumers and needlessly causing countries to ban pork products and order the slaughter of pigs.

"Rather than calling this swine flu ... we're going to stick with the technical scientific name H1N1 influenza A," Thompson said. (Full article (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/un_who_swine_flu - broken link))
Sorry RD, that decision kinda kills your little joke!

Oh, and the same article states that the WHO confirmed tally from the United States now stands at 109, with one death. Today's WHO press release confirms that number. Mexico has reported 97 confirmed human cases of infection, including seven deaths.

Cheers! M2

Seems like another possibility is that the podcast is incorrect. The story at the link below from yesterday says Bexar County has a probable case.

I will try to get clarification on this today during the 1 PM press briefing. It will be broadcast live on the district home page, and will also be available at SCUCISD on USTREAM: The official video stream for events in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD in Schertz, TX. Educational

Am I the only one that find the more information we get, the more questions are unanswered?

Quick ones that come to mind.

Mexico's death count at one time was above 150 now less than 20. Maybe testing has better number or are we trying to minimize the threat from the source?

Or? Do we have politicians that do not want to shut down the border to keep the spread down? Do politics, amnesty and alienating a new bloc of voters trump public health?

One child in Tarrant County tests positive and all of the Ft. Worth schools shut down. A handful of Schertz students test positive and those schools shut down.

These kids are now ON VACATION and not quarantined and off the street! The Rim is packed as well as the Quarry. Guess who is at the movies and being vectors?

What idiots have shut down their communities and basically sent these potential carriers outside their localities to spread the disease?
