Quote:
Two cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Schertz and another five in Southern California, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.
The Schertz cases, 16-year-old boys who attend the same school, and the others have recovered, but CDC is working with state and local health officials to investigate the virus.

I heard on the radio today that they believe it has some of the "normal" strains elements to this mutated strain, and if so the CDC believes that it is possible that those that receive normal annual flu vaccinations might be more protected from the influenza. I would wonder what percentage of the population get annual flu shots in Mexico City given the population of that place....
They also said that there is real fear that those 75 kids that are from that private school in NY are showing signs of this swine flu. Evidently there is a very short (1-3 day) incubation period from the time of exposure until full blown symptoms.

Evidently not, but would depend on how your immune system tackles it. Seems everyone that has had it in the US that they have confirmed so far all recovered without major issues...but folks need to realize that the flu (any type, not just this one) kills about 36,000 AMERICANS every year! Also, more than 200K hospitalized with the flu each year in America alone. This is why those of us that work in hospitals are required to get flu shots every year.

Also, here is a good Q&A for question on this influenza specifically.
