BTW, if you want something local to worry about, read this: Update: Police say former student who made threat wanted revenge | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News
luckily we don't have to worry about it now because at least a few people weren't running around screaming about swine flu.. and it's disgusting that something that big only accounted for about a minute of the local news I saw on KENS this evening. It was sandwiched in between about 15 minutes of swine flu fever

Parent is a true Hero
Im not sure why this story hasnt been mentioned here on the forum but the mother is a true hero. She possibly prevented Harlandale HS from be coming a Columbine HS.

I think someone posted it elsewhere. That Mom is certainly a hero. I am sure she mustve struggled with reporting her own child, knowing that he would be in serious trouble, but she did the right thing. I can only imagine the damage that guy wouldve done cause he certainly seemed serious.

Yep. mom stepped up and did the right thing and Jorge isn't going to have a smile on his face when the system is done with him. It wasn't the fact that he needed psychological help it was the fact that he knew he would probably get away with it.....(no fear factor).

I complain about this every single day,
it's ridiculous that sometimes the news spend 75% talking about 1 issue and spend 1% of the time covering local news that affect us everyday.

That mom is a hero! And that kid won't be in near as much trouble as if he had actually commited the crime. Hopefully he gets help (but is still harshly punished). SOme day hopefully he'll thank his mom for not only saving other's lives, but his as well.

I completely agree and wish more parents cared that much. She should definitely get some sort of recognition from someone high up in the city, but I doubt she will because this is a non-story thanks to some news people that need to remember what their job is..

Wow! That is definitely a good reason to be thankful. That's a bit too close to home for sure.
