What do you recommend for someone like me who gets bit all the time?

I've heard of Thermacells....

But somewhere, long ago, I've heard there's a vitamin that I can take that will help my body basically deter these annoying creatures. Does it work? What is it? Vitamin B??

Ideas? Hints?

And visit Florida. After you see what the 'skeeters are like there, you will never complain about the ones we have here again...

Probably body odor, rather than dulce blood.

I've always attracted mosquitoes, every since I was a small kid. My husband & daughter, NEVER get bit, so I am thinking it does have something to do w/ either body smell or ... something!

and yes, I've visited Florida... the squitos there are horrible as well!

A mosquito bite can be more than an itchy nuisance; in tropical and subtropical countries it could involve the transmission of diseases such as malaria or Dengue fever. Before visiting such places, always consult a doctor and take the usual precautions such as a prescribed course of anti-malaria pills.

To avoid getting bitten in the first place, pack the insect repellant and don’t forget to use it, or try the old hunter’s trick of taking a daily dose of 100mg vitamin B1 or 300mg brewer’s yeast, which some people find helps to ward off mosquitoes and other flying pests. You should notice the benefits after a week, and they’ll continue as long as you take the vitamin.

Also, put up a Purple Martin house in your yard...these birds LOVE misquitos and since all they eat are flying insects, keep things nice in and around the pool area.

I have heard lots of folks SWEAR by Avon Skin So Soft...spray it on and for some reason, bugs don't bite. I don't care for the stuff myself, but then I am not something misquitos really like to munch on anyway.

Just goes to show how everything's relative......

When we first moved here we couldn't believe how FEW mosquitos there were (and how small they were!)

But then again....we're from Saskatchewan, Canada, where they are big, scary and wear leather jackets with "Born to Bite" embroidered on the back!

Paka gave some great advice. Listen to her - she's a smart one!

Carry a Bounce fabric softener sheet with you in your pocket....they'll leave you alone.

Thanks everyone!

When I was a kid & visted my grandma in Florida, there were tons of Skin So Softs at all these stores with a sign that said "help yourself!", so I know that stuff works wonders.

One of my friends told me her mom did the Bounce fabric softener sheet (one in each belt loop, so there were tons of sheets hanging down), and it didn't work.

And YES! Canada's mosquitos are also horrible! I had a church camp for 4 weeks up in the upper part of Minnesota/Canada border line, and I was bit on every inch of my body, it felt! Horrible!

Someone also mentioned to me, that many people do get bit, but it's the people who are allergic to the mosquito venom (?) and it's how their body reacts. So, I dunno.

I'm definitely going to start up on my B1 vitamins for sure! I heard it was B something.

Believe it or not, in Alaska the mosquitoes are horrible during warm months. They are huge and they are everywhere! We used repellent when out fishing, camping, but for just around your yard, etc. Avon's skin so soft seemed to work very well.
