Hmmm. I wonder how many people on this forum actually go exactly the speed limit. Isn't going over a little bit still breaking the law? Everyone loves to throw stones before examining their own behavior. Come on people, I was passing people in the left lane, my only offense was not moving over immediately, though my intent was to do that, as I always have done, and have never been a left-hand land driver.

Case Closed!!!

Same here,
Most of the road rage is caused by left lane drivers that block the fast/passing lane, create a huge traffic jam and everybody gets pissed off because of them and start passing people like crazy.

Every single day between the airport and Schertz I see at least 3 son of .......... blocking the left lane.
I've noticed that a lot of traffic is caused by them, because as soon as I pass them the highway is almost completely clear.

Nothing wrong with speeding, that's what the left lane is for (passing) and sometimes you have to speed to finish passing people.
The problem is people that block the left lane, driving for miles on the left lane and force everybody to pass (sometimes speeding) on the right lane.

Since police like to set speed traps to make money,
how come they don't give $500 tickets to left lane drivers and kill 2 birds with one stone (improve traffic and make money)

Just because you weren't convicted doesn't mean you are innocent.

By your own admission you stated you were breaking the law, so don't be so quick to claim innocence when the truth is you simply got away with it due to a technical loophole. No amount of rhetoric is going to convince most people you didn't fail to move out of the left lane after passing. Had you complied with the law, you wouldn't have had to go through all this.

But, as you learned your lesson maybe some good came out of the whole ordeal!

As for fighting tickets, where that may be an option for some; a missed day of work costs me much more than a minor speeding ticket so like many, it really isn't worth my time and effort. /quote]

Sorry, I still insist I was innocent. You are innocent until proven guilty in this country, and since it was dismissed, I am now assumed innocent in the eyes of the law. Slate wiped clean. I had 3 pages of testimony, my spotless driving record, proof I had taken a defensive driving class, etc. I was ready to go, and a friend of mine, a cop for 20 years, encouraged me to fight this one.

Also, it was 4:30 in the afternoon. I was fortunate in that I got a time slot after my work shift, I understand others might not have that luxury.

Regardless, no one even think about driving in the left lane. I still pass people in it now, as I always have done, but get over quicker. They need to state in the law the maximum amount of time allowed once you pass the other vehicle. I suggest it's once you see their headlights in your rear-view mirror, which could be shorter or longer depending on the speed you are going.

Ohh My GAWD! are you serious, you're making it sound as if you killed somebody. You just mainly got a traffic citation, and got lucky! lol

but I wouldnt say that your record will remain clean, that citation stays in your license file, and counts as a stop record Trust me I know, I just got Inspected by TX DPS yesterday and he confirmed it. He showed me my File , and Trooper > Cop.
