Have any kids of working age? That's the best way !! I only paid $40 a month when my daughter worked there ... when she quit I had to pay $75 a month for just me. Lifetime does not have any discount for State Employees and when I worked for a PD the only thing they did was give me a slight discount on the sign up fee. I miss Lifetime, but it's too far away and I can't afford it!!

Unless you are in a rush...wait until they offer a deal on the initial registration fee, which is nearly $400. We just signed up for the gym in March when they were waiving that entire fee. If you get on their email list, I believe they send out regular discount offers and -- although don't quote me on this -- may offer some military/other discounts as well.

Looks like the new one at the Rim is waiving the enrollment fee right now, although you do still pay the admin fee. Good till May 15.

I went in for a trail and after a month I told them I was not interested at the price of 75 a month. When I started walking out the door, she told me she could do it for 30. I took that offer.

Have you checked out Planet Fitness? They have two locations: one near Crossroads Mall and another in the San Pedro/McCullough/410 area. Membership is about $22/month for the hubby and I. About $12/month for one person. You should check them out to see if its something that fits your needs.

I think Lifetime Fitness is a huge ripoff. I am an avid bodybuilder, have been for 7 years. I don't need towel service, a juice/food bar, tv's surrounding me everywhere, nail salons, hair salons, 200 tread mills, ect...
When I first came to TX 8 mo. ago LifeTime was down the street where I live in Stone Oak. They wanted $175 down and $75 a month? What exactly am I paying for, all the amenities I will never use that I have to pay for if I want to use? I go to the gym to workout, and train hard. That is my goal. I need free weight workout equipment, squat racks, power racks, and some decent weight. I don't go to the gym for a froo froo atmosphere.
I chose Golds, it was 0 down $35 a month and has everything I need.
I often wonder the point of people payingover $1000 a year for a gym membership to walk on a treadmill. Makes no sense to me.

I would have walked out on the fact she was trying to put the screws to you even with the $30 a month membership.

it's a deal for parents. There is no other place where I can drop these kids off at a HUGE play place for up to two hours anytime of the day seven days of the week. Plus they have the family pool, which is really why we joined in the first place. (I'm just guilted into exercising as to not waste the membership)Went to a Golds years ago and it was overflowing with young, tan, serious bodybuilders. Very intimidating. Lifetime definitely has all shapes, sizes and ages. Sometimes comfort and convienence trumps dollars and cents.

Understandable, I don't have any children and I am probably one of the big intimidating guys you speak of. Most of us our nice, we just have our game faces on.
