Never been, but this one is on my wish list:
Brazos Bed and Breakfast

discovered it while checking out some suggestions for Sunday drives in another thread on the forum.

No personal experience with this, but I've heard of of the Outpost.

Round Top Texas – Brenham Texas Bed and Breakfast – Brenham Texas Lodging - Round Top TX Lodging – Outpost at Cedar Creek Bed and Breakfast

You may also want to search Schulenberg, LaGrange and Giddings. Also outlying areas around Bryan/College Station....Washington On The Brazos and Brenham. LaGrange and Brenham are lovely small towns even if you stayed in a Comfort Suite Motel and just shopped and had lunch and scouted the countryside.

All I know about that highway is that there's a lot of beaver signs

Dopo - yeah, the beaver signs suckered me in. The place is like an old Stuckey's on steroids.

Stay away from Bucky's, nothing but a big gas station convenience store. My sis lives in East Bernard, just west of Houston, there are some there, then in Rosenberg, also the best little town is probably Columbus or Schulenberg. Reason being is they have a fairly large retirement home right there and a lot of people go to visit their relatives that live nearby. I would look in those two towns, they are right on I-10

Actually, Bucky's was worth the stop, if you're old enough to remember Stuckey's. It's the closest I've seen to that old chain - they still sell their famous divinity online, BTW.
