Hooray...we found something that might be a good area to scour...thanks for the tips. I work from home and my husband works odd hours so we aren't too concerned about rush hour traffic but good suggestion to check it out live during that time. Keep them coming...you have us inspired! The area that you mention along Evans Rd/Bulverde/Green Mt....Is that 78258 or would you happen to know the zip in that area? Thanks ALL!

78258 is Stone Oak. The east side of 281 north of 1604 is 78259 - I believe. Can someone confirm this?

What about going down a bit of a ways towards 281/Bitters/Thousand Oaks area? Those are older houses and you'll get a treed lot for sure. It should be within your price range too (although I'll plead ignorance and say I've never looked at homes in that area). You'll still be close to Stone Oak and also be close to other things that aren't right on the 281/1604 traffic bubble.

Unless you're set on getting a brand new house (like 1990s-2000s).

Check out Moderator cut: real estate site and just move the map to your desired location and you will get a listing of all houses for sale in that area. Good luck!

TXEX06 -Those are the same areas that I was going to suggest. As you know they will find many nice affordable subdivisions. There are also a few outside of 1604 on Blanco Rd.

Great.....thanks for all of the help (seems san antonio is a friendly place!). We are going back down this Sunday to look further and now I think I have some really good information to dig in. How can I get the link that was deleted from Jorgito's post above?
