It's so strange seeing a freeway go over the Riverwalk but I love it!
You're right adtobias, that is going to be a great attraction for locals who want to move downtown not just tourists.

Anyone else think the side of this building (future mixed-use development) would look better with something on it? Like ads perhaps, not for the local plumber but pop culture type advertisements. Opinions?

I think it would look better with an art mural, not an advertisement. Those pop culture ads really only look good on the sides of barns way out in the middle of the country, where the Coke logo is faded and the paint is peeling off.
If you want to slap an ad on the side of a building that overlooks the Riverwalk, you'll probably end up with a lot of controversy, such as the one that was generated when NPR started selling ads on the side of their headquarters building in DC to raise funds. NPR went from this:
to this...
I would venture to say that the last thing we need are more ugly billboards right on the Riverwalk.

Oh dear God NO!!!!!!! Please no ads! We don't need more space marred by ads. There are enough billboards in the city.
Artwork, perhaps, although I like the clean white lines.

Thanks for the pics!
I've been following the progress of the extension on SilverCreek78250's blog (Google it, it's worth it!); and even posted a thread on here when the announcement came out that it was due to open at the end of this month; but I didn't know they finally opened the flood gates and filled it with water.
It is nicely done, and adds even more to this great city!
Cheers! M2

FWIW, I think the fresh, white paint looks good. It's a little too clean, but give it some time. I'm sure a tagger or two will take care of that!

Is that as high as the water level will go? Looks kinda low to me.
