You could also attend Buggy Babies at the zoo, library story time, swim pads at Sea World/Fiesta Texas, baby gym classes (Gymboree, Little Gym), mall playgrounds, etc. and I'm sure you'll meet other SAH parents and hear about playgroups. Also check around your neighborhood/HOA programs.

I've also heard good things about the MOPS/MOMS programs.

I would recommend MOMS Club. Check out their site at momsclub.org. From there you can email them and find out which club is "your" club. I was in one when I lived in Orange County, CA and hooked up w/ one right away when I knew I was moving to SA. I have left my club because both of my kids are now in school every day, but it's a great way to meet other people, do fun things around your neck of the woods, and of course, for your kids!
