It was nice to see people walking around rather than driving and a city that isn't laid out in a grid system.

For those of you living there that have forgotten take a look around and thank your lucky stars for being in such a great place.
Your welcome in my state anytime!! I have a feeling your the type that enjoys life. What a welcome addition you are.

I and most of my neighbors walk downtown all the time. We're not tourists. We live here and own property here and participate in community life.

And we walk!

How soon will you be leaving? Need help packing? I, for one, would love to send you on your merry way.

About being locals downtown.....it's funny how many people who work downtown just assume everyone there is a tourist.

If we're in a shop, we always get asked where we're from. I love answering "Um, about 5 blocks away" and seeing the unbelieving stares. I've heard on other local chat groups the same thing "no one who lives in San Antonio goes downtown." I guess we're nobodies

That always makes me laugh. "Where are you from?" "Well, I'm FROM central Illinois but I've lived here for 12 years!"

Errrrr.....Camper, the OP is from Houston.

But I share your sentiments, Grunn is welcome in our city and I hope he/she does so soon!

And, it's funny how we always get asked where we are from as well. I guess because I normally wear shorts all the time, and look a little touristy. But for some reason a few people can't understand why us "locals" enjoy our city just as much as the tourists. Those seem to be the same people who can't figure out how we are all having so much fun and doing so many great things, as to them SA is boring with nothing to do. Like I've said a hundred times before, I don't think it is the city that is at fault!
