Default Australian Shepherd rescue?

DH brought home a 5 or 6 mo Australian Shepherd puppy a month ago. He's adorable, he's hyper, and he's darn smart. It was fine until our work schedules changed, and I had to start a second job.

Now Hank the walking carpet spends most of the day outside by himself. I've told hubs that this isn't fair to Hank - dogs are pack animals and need to be either around people or other dogs. Besides this, he's still learning 'doggie manners' and is so excited to see us in the evening it takes him two hours just to calm down when he's let in.

I'm asking about rescue because people familiar with the breed KNOW what they're getting into. I've half-jokingly told hubs we need to get Hank a chicken or two to herd so he won't be bored.

Awwwww, I hope you find him a good home.
I just called my in-laws, they live on 200 acres and used to have an Australian Shepard. They now have a Border Collie but he is getting old. They said they don't want two dogs at the same time . I wish they would have taken him off your hands. I know they are VERY smart dogs and they definitely need to be in the right environment. It would have been perfect for him. He could have ran to his little hearts content.

If I didn't have an 18 month old Border Collie I would have taken him in a heartbeat.

Good luck.
