It's Memorial Week-End. A special time to salute our military neighbors for all they have done for us. A special thanks to the families of those who have sacrificed everything for our freedom. God bless America and our troops. We love you.

THANK YOU for stating that. We need to remember those who gave us the freedom we have. The freedom to sit here and reply to all these threads.

Memorial Day is not about a furniture or clothing sale. It's not about a three day weekend or a BBQ.

Take the time to drive to Fort Sam National Cemetery . When you see all those perfectly aligned headstones with a United States Flag at every one I assure you tears will be shed and you will say two simple but meaningful words: THANK YOU.

Default A nice Memorial Day poem.......

And it is quoted.......by "Del Jones"

"MEMORIAL DAY"

"A time for picnics, time off work -"
"Vacations and the "Indy" "-
"A holiday, too often times"
"We forget what, it should be."

"A time to pay respect to those"
"Who rallied to the battle cry -"
"Who gave their lives for liberty -"
""Those freedoms for you and I."

"Such a waste of brave young souls -"
"Some still struggling through their youth"
"Who faced and fell willingly"
"Before wartimes' awful truth."

"So as we share this holiday"
"With our friends or family -"
"Take a moment to give thanks to"
"Those who died so we'd stay free."
"Let us strive for world peace -"
"For the end of greed and hate -"
"For next time, after "the war""
"It just may be too damned late."

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

GOD BLESS AMERICA & OUR ARMED FORCES!

Not my words, but a great reminder to us all....

Remember, Memorial Day focuses more on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country (Veteran's Day honors all those who served). As such, WellGuy's recommendation to visit the National Cemetery at Ft Sam Houston would be most appropriate...

Interactive map tool creates online memorial to U.S., coalition troops - CNN.com

Haven't loaded it yet, but what an innovative way to really "bring home" the meaning of Memorial Day.
