Well, I was actually in this situation when we moved from S.A. to Belgium (the country) back in 2002. I didn't know we would return here three years later, this time to stay. Anyhow, it was most definitely Rudy's. And when we came back, we ate there several times a week for the first couple of weeks. Since then we've tapered off quite a bit...

And although I will never eat at Bill Miller's, I have to admit their sweet tea is pretty damn good!

Cheers! M2

LOL~~ I was thinking the same thing about the tea when I read about Bill Millers. I go there for the tea. If do eat there, I NEVER eat the BBQ I get the chicken strips, they're not too bad.

I vote for Rosario's -- it's my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Come on, get it together San Antonians! I moved years ago, and when I am missing San Antonio cuisine I am thinking of Chris Madrid's huge ass hamburgers (Only because Little Hipps on McCoullough, north of downtown is now closed from what I hear :-( ), Rolondo's Super Tacos on Hildebrand, and anywhere that sells "Puffy Tacos" (Henry's Puffy Tacos is a perfect example but not my absolute favorite, just the one you see advertised at Missions games with the dancing taco... Do they still do that?).

Honorable mention to many of the fine mexican restaurants mentioned above, as well as Bud Jones, but you can get diner food, and tex-mex in Austin

Good luck finding a hamburger as big as a hubcap, or a taco the size of a football, or a Taco on a deep fried corn tortilla anywhere in the world but San Antonio. It just does not happen.

These are the things you are going to miss, because they are all unique and all "Puro San Antonio".

Also, it doesn't aply to Austin, but did you know that Carne Guisada is not available outside Texas? It's a crime!

Yep-Mine would also be Chris Madrid Burger, Fries, Cold Beer!
A couple Saturdays ago, we waited over an hour in line, the line went back to the ladies room, I did not care. But did have a couple cold ones first.

Fun thread, even though it's old.

It would depend where I was moving to. If to Europe, then I'd go to Taco Haven for breakfast and Cascabel (S. St Mary's) for dinner. If somewhere else in the US, I'd go to La Frite.
