I had a lot of petrifird wood in mine in SA. I used flat rocks in the Bellville garden.

Amerias(sea pinks) and sedums (stonecrop) grow well in rock gardens. Ice plants, yucca, any cacti would also do well. Google texas rock gardens and see if you find any photos for design and/or plant ideas. One website with nices photos is yardshare.com. Post some pics when you're done!

I just bought a bunch of ice plant at the nursery on Hildebrand. They make me homesick for CA beaches. Mine are blooming right now, yellow and purple.
