I'll DM you a special email I get from them...and yes, the steaks ARE worth the money.
These are the same quality steaks that are sold in 4 & 5 star restaurants...without the hassle of reservations, going out, or only one of you getting to enjoy the wine/drinks because SOMEONE needs to drive home.
The older we get, and the more we enjoy being able to have what we want when we want it, we have come to really enjoy getting this quality of meat available to enjoy in portion controlled sizes.

I can agree wholeheartedly that TRE is fantastic... Just don't expect it to be a 'pizza joint.' It's a truly innovative Northern Italian meal. I like to think of it as what Piatti at the Quarry always wanted to be and never was.
I recommend the osso bucco ravioli. Really, really nice.
Can anyone recommend a spot in SA that routinely serves QUALITY foie gras? It's not something I allow myself to eat regularly, but when I do, I like it whole and served with toast points (the traditional way). Anyone out there have any insight on the local scene?

Foie gras can be so screwed up by so many people. I can't remember getting truly great foie gras here in SA. I do recollect having a decent attempt made at the Argyle, which isn't such a bad place to eat, as long as you behave yourself - ugh. Never order the creme brulee there - oh man, worst ever. (Perhaps the new French bistro Pavel? up on 1604)
You guys have me all built up for a visit to Tre. Has it been there for at least 3 years? I vaguely remember visiting an Italian place in that area by the Witte a few years ago, or did that close and this appear out of its ashes?

Tre arose from the ashes.

I'm abstaining tonight. I'm enjoying all the reviews and making a new list. Mine changes all the time. You all have reminded me of some great places I've forgotten about.

Does Le Reve always serve it? The night we were there, fab foie gras! Other than that, I don't order it. I would look at Brasserie Pavil though!

I found out about a new and really neat store today! It's not a restaurant but a popcorn store
Gourmet Popcorn | Popcorn Tins | Papa Dean's Popcorn | San Antonio, Texas |
A coworker of my wife recommended it to us. It's really neat, they have just about every variety of popcorn you could think of! They had this pepperoni pizza-tasting popcorn and it was awesome!
The downside? I spent $31 on 3 kinds of popcorn!! Granted, I got almost 3 gallons of freakin' popcorn but still.. kinda pricey! But if you buy the gallon tins then you can refill them for 50% off. Neat idea!
We're always looking for gifts for our folks and I think we found this year's Christmas present!
Anyone else tried it? We normally buy Vick's popcorn but I had to try Papa Dean's. I haven't seen a stand-alone popcorn store in years!

Papa Dean's is awesome, but it's definitely not new! I'm nearly 30 and it's been there as long as I can remember.
I am partial to the Chicago blend, but I have to limit its time around the house to the holidays, or otherwise it would be all I eat. It's that good.

oh wow, i didn't know it had been there that long! it seems like something that would be there for a couple yrs and disappear, only to be re-attempted by someone else a few years later!
Chicago blend definitely was good! It was just priced about 6$ higher for the 2 gal tub than the stuff I bought
thanks! i agree, i need to get this stuff out of the house asap or i'm going to have to go for a second 33 mi bike ride today!

Anytime we want something special like foie, we call Kirby's Steakhouse. Talk to Sam, they order us Buffalo ribeyes and elk for special dinners regularly. Just give them a few days notice and they always find whatever it is we're looking for.
