Thursday Night - with customers at 18 Oaks restaurant at new JW Resort. Excellent steak (after I sent the first one back...). The resort is fabulous. The outside does not do it justice.

Last night, Oloroso - Lamb was prepared perfectly. Others had commented on over-salting, but we did not notice with any of the items. I didn't care for the vegetables served with the lamb, but everyone else in our party liked their items.

More reports, spent the last 2 days in austin and tried these places in case anyone goes up.

Off of 290 in Dripping Springs a BBQ place called Main St BBQ and it was awesome

Went to Kerby Lane for breakfast- the best pancakes anywhere. Then had Waterloo ice house for lunch today on 35s at the Meadows. It was pretty good, if you have kids very kid friendly.

We finally went to Longhorn Steakhouse (I-10 & 1604). We both liked our steaks, salad and baked potato. And DH does not usually get his medium rare done like he likes it, but it was fine. Service was really great...until we had been there a while and then nobody offered to refill our drinks and we had to wait too long for the doggie bag and bill. You would think that with as many people as they had waiting they would want the table so someone else could have it.

Milano's on Wurzbach. Overbooked screwup on Saturday. We had reservations 2 weeks ahead of time for a nice table - even with a specific number. Got there and numerous folks were booked for the same time. Many with reservations days in advance. But the geniuses were still taking reservations for that time on Saturday afternoon. Very bad form. So folks were jammed in on what were clearly folding tables in every available space.

Greed vs. style - I'm afraid. Food was good but that place is crossed off for anything special.

That is SO greedy and underhanded! They will lose many customers because of it, I am sure!

Crumpets for brunch yesterday, thought it was overpriced for the quality of food.

You can certainly get cheaper burgers...at any fast food joint. But if you knew how those burgers were made...and why they are so cheap...you might not mind paying an extra $4 for your meal...

Sorry, but Five Guys to me wasn't any better than Whataburger. For the money, I'd go to any of the non-chain burger joints, i.e. Lords, Madrids, Bob's, Bobby J's, Bracken Cafe, etc., etc.....Heck, for lunch, even Silo on Austin Hwy wouldn't have cost much more. and better food, less annoying music
