Last restaurant was Black Finn in uptown Charlotte, NC. Right in the middle of the very expensive restaurants is this place that makes seafood platters, home made fried chicken, steaks, and burgers. I had an excellent burger, and the prices were comparable to Chili's. My cohorts ate the fried chicken and seemed to be quite happy with it. Highly recommended.

I've been dragged there by others many times over the years. Doesnt mean I like it. Besides, their service sucks. They can screw up a two item order.

Marthas is like eating at Panchos or Monterey House. Remember them?
It's mediocre food for mediocre people. Deal with it.

This is SATX, there are dozens of better mex. food places.

You probably think Red Lobster is good too right? AHAHAHahahahahaha!
Slop.

Luthers on the Strip (Main Ave):

After a couple of good meals there, I had thought the eatery was on an upward swing... I was mistaken. Slow, inefficient service with attitude, overcooked food that tasted like it had been sitting for too long and an incredibly slow bar made for a really sad experience.

And FYI- It wasn't busy. Lots of servers milling around at about 9pm, well before the rush hits (when the clubs let out). Really, there was no excuse for the service or the dismal food. Not headed back for awhile. Just too inconsistent.

Biff Buzby's burgers for lunch today. A. Maz. ing. Their fried pickles still are making me drool. Great flavor to the burger, and I really, really enjoyed it!

I had the Macdonalds Quarter Pounder with Cheese (soul food for stoners!). I get a craving for them sometimes but this one had a bun that was hard and tasted like cardboard.

I ate with some office folks at Panera Bread in Huebner Oaks. I had never been, it was actually quite good. I had a salad and 1/2 sandwich and the salad bowl was huge.... and the balsamic dressing rocked my face.

Panera has the best freaking onion soup that you'll ever find.

I'll have to check it out. Everyone at our table was having the broccoli cheese soup and they were raving.

We gave Oloroso another try and were surprised to find everything vastly improved. I checked the current menu online and was thrilled to find trotters on the menu. Unfortunately we got there and the menu online was not the current one. Oddly, that morning I was bitching that 1 couldn't fine trotters on a SA menu. Oh well...

What they did have (for food) was terrific. I had lamb and the wife had a hanger and both were prepared with skill. The lamb was slightly under salted and the hanger a little below medium rare, but they were minor quibbles. Overall the food was very good on this trip. The service was also much improved from our prior visit. Their wine list frankly sucks in my opinion for that level of food, but VERY THANKFULLY they allow corkage (albeit a high $25 per fee). We brought a bottle for entrees and enjoyed a couple glasses of their bubbles with tasty house charcuterie.

We will go back and hope they stay at the current level or better.

The last restuarant I ate at was McDonalds in Alameda, Ca.

I caught the 51 bus line from Downtown Oakland. I rode it to the McDonalds in Alameda, because it's closer to my home.

I ordered a McDouble, which is a double cheeseburger minus one cheese, a McChicken, and a small french fries, with a water.

It was so good, especially for the price of less than $4.
