I've been to Luther's maybe 4 or 5 times in the past couple months. I can't say the service was bad. Perhaps I went on good nights, but all in all the service has actually been better than when I had been earlier in the year. The food is convenient and fairly good for the price. I never have an issue with portions. My only issue with Luther's, the volume of that music. It's definitely not a place to have a profound conversation over a cup of coffee, or even a mindless rant over a bottle of Red Stripe. Lady Gaga, La Roux and all that other mess played at maximum volume does not make the food easier to swallow.

The neighborhood atmosphere, the reasonably priced tasty food, late hours make up for the aforementioned.

Re: Luther's. Ate there a few months ago. I remember the food being decent, the waitress friendly. Not a bad place IMO.

My husband and I went to Pappy G's on Pat booker. He had the fried fish, fried okra and dirty rice and I had the fried chicken, baked mac and cheese (oh my! Heaven!! wish I would had doubled this side) and fries. All of it was excellent!! I definitely would go back.

Had to run to Marble Falls on Thursday and stopped at Ronnie's Ice House in Johnson City. EXCELLENT BBQ. Rivals anything we have here. Probably better. Turkey was to die for and brisket was great. Beans and sauerkraut salad were off the chart.

Stopped by Schilo's downtown today with the family, and as always, it was superb. The Reuben was awesome, as was the split pea soup. Bread pudding was great. Pecan pie was just OK, but we'd also stuffed ourselves by that point, so it may have been better than I thought.

Oh, man... they put cucumbers and tomatoes in the sauerkraut! That is the best stuff!

Monterey.

Count me among the fans. We had a large group during this terrible weather which almost took up half the restaurant. Tequila from the management before we departed was a nice touch. Will be back.

Matamoros is close to me and I wish it was better. Try Amorcitas on 1604 and Huebner. Much better!
