I think if Chunky's was in that big building next to Rudy's 151, then isn't it a dance hall now?

Was Little Red Barn then Stockyards Dancehall which closed down. The sign is still there and there is a Chunky's sign to the left. Not sure why the stockyards sign is still there. Everything that has been in that building has shut down. Maybe it is the location? It is really spacious inside so perfect for a dancehall. Not sure what exactly is going on in that location???

I'm pretty sure The Stockyards is still open. It's more of a bar/dance place now. The steak house part only lasted for what seemed like a couple weeks and one look at the menu explained why. Premium prices for food I heard was definitely not something you'll ever see on one of the Food Network shows..

We tried to go to Condessa Italian Grill today, this is the new Italian restaurant in front of the old Roaring 20's site on Blanco, in the building that was originally a steak place called The Feed Store in the 80's.

Everyone knows I always try to promote locally-owned non-chain restaurants on these threads, but I cannot do so with this place. We got there a little before noon today, a Saturday. Upon ordering a pasta dish with chicken I was told by the waiter, who was a nice enough chap, that they were out of chicken. That's right, fully half of all their entrees include chicken, but they were out of it on Saturday morning. My wife then ordered some seafood pasta in a tomato (pomodoro) sauce. They waiter came back a few minutes later to apologize that they didn't have any pomodoro left. That's right, an Itallian restaurant at the start of the weekend, usually the busiest two days for a restaurant, is out of its staple items of tomato sauce and chicken, meaning 2/3rds of the menu is unavailable. I don't know who is running this place, but for a new business trying catch on in an industry as competitive as food service, I would consider this gross incompetence. We told the waiter we would just pass. He didn't seem to blame us, and was deeply apologetic over the whole thing. I'd like to try it again, but I think I'll wait to see if they put an Under New Management, since if they can't even handle purchasing and inventory competently, in what other areas will they screw up?

I was just there this past week and ate at La Hacienda de Los Barrios. Food was good and would eat there again after I move there within the next few weeks.

Olmos Pharmacy.....had a chocolate shake, which was good and split an Italian sub with my son. It was thick with meat but really greasy deli meats! Nicely presented, though, and it tasted good (although a tiny bit salty). Onion rings on the side which were the really thick kind I normally don't like, but these were good. Husband also had the Italian sub with a side salad, and the salad was better than I thought he'd get. It wasn't iceberg. LOL There's something just odd (or just old? I dunno) about the place. Seems like something's missing, or perhaps it's just the decor (or lack of) that is weird. It was my first visit there, and I know it's in some sort of transition now with the new bhar owner, etc. Anyway, we'll definitely go back if we're in the area, and give something else on the menu a try.

Ate breakfast at Sunset Restaurant in Blanco, TX. Had an awesome breakfast sandwich with one fried egg, cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a sweet sandwich bun and it rocked my face. The food is always good at this gem in the Hill Country.

Hearthstone Bakery - had the wedge salad and broccoli cheese soup. It was really good, but kinda pricey IMO. DH had the club, said it was "meh."
