Beijing Express off Bitters. I had never been before but it had positive reviews and I was jonesin for some Chinese but didn't want to eat in a restaurant so we went to the drive through. It was actually pretty damn good. I'll definitely go back.

In SA it was Nicha's for lunch Friday before heading to the coast. Tortilla soup and enchilada plates. Good stuff.

Last place in Corpus Christi for lunch Saturday was Blackbeard's ..fish, shrimp, burger all pretty good.

Saturday night late meal on Padre Island Pizza and wings...pizza was good, I'd forget the wings next time.

Port Aransas-

Venetian Hot Plate- Owners are Italian and the food is fairly authentic. The food plays somewhat to their crowd, but was excellent. Roasted grouper w/ walnut pesto and tomato risotto was killer. They also have a reserve wine list that has some cool oddballs that are well priced.

Shells- popular spot with a large and eclectic menu that changes frequently. The menu sounds great, but the dishes don't deliver. Our eel and sashimi starters were mediocre at best. Entrees were forgettable. The small roach on the table was no gem either. Food D+. Space B. Wine List D.

Port Aransas Brewing- fried shrimp were decent. Cheeseburger was middle of the road, but certainly not top 50 in the state (per TX Monthly). Nothing grilled available.

Beaches- nice spot for brunch with our dog out on the deck. flounder and mahi mahi were tatsy, but we were getting dive-bombed bees.

Port A... Love VHP. You get rep points alone from me for mentioning that place. A longtime favorite of mine.

Also love Marcels. Decent wine list. Likely the best 'fine' dining on the island.

Stopped by this place on San Pedro just south of North Star Mall -- Charolas -- interesting place and apparently a catering company now serving also in a small, well-appointed dinning room. We were a bit early and went to breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I've listed their website and a link of the menu we saw there today --- Beef Wellington on it.

Anyone been there and and information would be appreciated.

The Menu: http://www.charolaspartytray.com/pdfMenu/PDFMenu.pdf

The Website: Charola's The Party Tray Co. & Bakery

Went there about a month ago and it was really good, and good size portions.
