Alamo Street Eats Bar rocks- Right in the heart of Southtown and they always have a full crew of trucks with a huge variety of food. I've been to the one on Bulverde, but it's hit or miss in terms of who shows up. Added, the drive is insane.

It's good to kow they're over there too but Southdown is an insane drive for those of us on the north side.

Went to New Braunfels Sunday for brunch. Was gonna eat at "Roosters" found out they were closed and now its "Pikes" they had a buffet breakfast and menu items as well. Buffet was ok, regular stuff, but, the service! TERRIBLE!! We were seated in an area, the Host, had just pulled the chair out and the waitress told him" Not in My AREA!" We walked around the restaurant and came back to the same table. We sat for 20 minutes, and had to grab a waitress just to take our drink order. I was hungry so I went to the buffet, and ate, never took our order. My wife went to the manager explained to him, and we ate for free, yet, the waitress never took care of any of our needs.

Romo's. I know, I know but I had no choice in the matter.
Dirty tables, got seated at one that hadn't been cleaned and we got to wipe it down ourselves, no refills, lousy surly service ("what do you want"), and decent food.
Same as usual.
Never ceases to amaze me how the entire staff (which is completely new every trip) will sit there and stare at the customers and not refill a single glass, wipe down a table, or bring the check.

Maria Mias Mexican Bistro on the riverwalk. Located by Tony Romas/Rivercenter Mall. It opened about four months ago I am told. We ordered combo fajitas. Chicken was so moist. Loaded with onions. Homemade torts. Our son ordered quesadillas - huge and yummy. My new favorite place for mexican.

the drive is insane? so you want me to drive downtown instead? I think Ill stick to going to the Point on Boerne Stage instead or Bulverde since they are both equally close to me.

I am almost 100% for certain he doesn't want you to drive anywhere.

Rudy's Barbecue, original location in Leon Springs. I will freely admit that though I am devoted fan of my own 'cue, it was just too darn hot to mess with it last night. Good brisket, decent sausage, and good chopped meat. Sides are always consistently good. The only thing I don't get about Rudy's is that cream style corn they have. Every time I get carry out, they offer me a sample. That stuff is just too sweet, yuck!

Moderator cut: orphaned
A couple of texmex contributions this weekened:
Lunch counter at Culebra Meat Market on Babcock and Eckhert. $6 gets you a plate of food, 4 tortillas, and a drink. Rice was fairly pitiful but the rest was great. Looks like I'll have to start visiting that place hungry when I'm buying my 50lbs of steak.
Gallito de Jalisco on Wurzbach and Data Point. Been eating here for years. Cheap, solid food.
