Kona Grill in LaCantera
From the moment we were seated and all through our meal, we were swatting at bugs, gnats and flies, lots and lots of flies - it was non-stop - it was horribly disgusting! We even killed a few gnats and flies! A manager stopped by our table as we finished and we mentioned to her the horrible infestation of flies, gnats and bugs that interrupted our dining experience and she laughed and said it was because the "garage door" was open in the bar area!
We order 2 cocktails, 2 salads, and 2 entrees which came to nearly $80 prior to the tip. Hubby had the ribeye and he was very satisfied. I had the Pad Thai and it probably the worst I’ve eaten.
Service could have been better – waitress seem overwhelmed.
Needless to say, we won't be back to spend nearly $80 for a below average dinner and to swat at flies, gnats and bugs!

Kona has always had this issue. They are too cheap to fix their 'air' doors to keep the bugs out and their food has always been just okay, nothing special.

You're paying for being at La Cantera. Eating at a mall... How impressive.

I ate at Kona about a month ago and was not impressed, our server also did not seem to care about his service or that the food took awhile to come out. On the way out I spoke with the manager and informed him of the bad service and bad food, he told me if I was sure since the server was one of the best ones. Ever since been told that I have never been back and don't intend too, like Gloria said you are paying for eating at La Cantera.

I have done happy hour at Kona 10 times plus and have never had a gnat or fly in presence. My complaint is they changed their pizza to a half ass flat bread...

Minnie's - a/c was out and it was hot. Service was forgettable. Food was not up to par for an AW kitchen. Skate was served so salty it was like a salt lick. I sent it back and a newly fired one was = salty. The waitress said in a tone, "it's probably the capers" as if I was unfamiliar with the ingredient. No dear, the capers had no punch next to the saltiness of the skate! Wine pours were also very short for the price, but there were some nice choices.

Tribeca- Wine and beer list suck. No thought put into them whatsoever. The short rib burger was very good and a great deal. A fried oyster app was excellent. Brussels had great flavor but were not crispy and made me think they were re-warmed. Hanger steak was also perfectly cooked and delicious, but paired with fried zucchini sticks that were not crunchy. I was very pleased to see quail on the menu and will be back for it.

Panchitos on McCollough. Found for lunch that the Caldo de Pollo was a good deal. Also their grill steak salad. Steak is a might chewy but tasty and there are good fresh veggies under it. It's too hot for rice and beans as sides IMHO at times. I also like their Chile Relleno - which does have rice and beans. Oh, well.
