Ate at Stout's Pizza last night. Some of the best pizza in town IMHO.

Yesterday lunch - the new Choke Canyon BBQ in Atascosa. Had a sausage sandwich. It's every bit as good as the original in Whitsett.

Last night - Chris Madrid's. The burger was a little dry (well, dry for CM's - they're usually pretty greasy), but it was still a mouthgasm.

Coming soon: Ma Harper's, La Fogata, and Texas Roadhouse.

Texas Roadhouse. We call it Texas RoadMouse. Once while waiting I heard some squeaky noises and instinctively looked down and saw two mice on the floor just hanging out and running around. Never again. The food was not that great either.

My SO calls Saltgrass - the Mouse house. We were there and a mouse ran around the dining room over people's feet.

Someone recommended a Filipino food to try at ChockDee place in Universal City (115 E Lindbergh Blvd). It's a buffet (quite large) so you can try many different foods there. I liked it, but have no way to compare this food with any other Filipino food, because I never ate Filipino food before. It seems to be authentic, and many ethnic people ate there.

Bad Night for SA Dining -

We started by going to the Melting Pot, where we'd setup a reservation the day before. Have never been, and was interested in trying it out. Got there a couple minutes early, walked in, and noticed how dark it was. Then told by the folks at the front that the power had been out for an hour, and it was expected to be at least an hour and possibly up to three before they got the power back on and were ready to start serving folks. Since we had a reservation, seems like they could have let us know? Inceed about an hour later we got a text saying our reservation had been cancelled...

Next we tried going to Pappasito's, but by then the place was packed. Wife then suggested her favorite place - Mamasito's. Last time I had been there I wasn't overly impressed, but it seemed ok. Got there, and I commented that it looked as packed as Pappa's, but she insisted they were much larger and so could handle the crowd. Get inside, are told a 20 minute wait, and it turned out to be closer to 45. As they were walking us to our table, one of the servers stole our table to add to a large party they were sitting, and so we had to stand while they quickly cleaned another one for us to sit at. Unfortunately it only got worse from there. We had to rather pointedly ask for chips and silverware since they had put their salsas down when we sat there, but then nothing else. Got my coffee, and it literally tasted like hot water. Wife agreed and suggested I ask them to brew another pot, but I had no confidence it wouldn't be as bad or worse. Ordered the Chicken Enchiladas, which arrived quickly, but the rice tasted like chopped, warmed cardboard, and the enchiladas themselves had only specks of chicken, and were essentially flavorless.

Two places on my "Never Again" list I'm afraid.

I am wondering if you meant Mamacitas? I tried looking up Mamasito's as I never heard of that name and nothing comes up locally.

The Mamacitas in Kerrville is better than the one here in San Antonio.

My last restaurant was Pho Cong Ly off bitters rd. Service and food was awesome.
