I miss the original small location too. I have never been to the 281 location but I can say the blanco location is no improvement over the original location either. The charm is gone.

Las Islas Marias off SW Military is about as close you can find to what Bucanero used to be like. (My opinion)

Went to Picante Grill on Broadway tonight, despite my past experiences and reservation. My daughter wanter to go for her 22nd birthday that, thank you picante, you f'd up to the extreme. Started by getting 2 bowls of cold, stale chips. After complaining, we received a large bowl of HOT stale chips. At that point I walked out. In the past, their food has been ok to good but the service always sucked. Tonight, it all sucked and f'd up mu daughters birthday dinner. Thanks Picante, I will never forget.

We found that their service had a touch of an attitude.

Went to Roadhouse in Bastrop today. They had the best sweet potato fries I've ever eaten! Their burgers were good, too.

But how was the food?

Go there for lunch every now and then. Not bad.

Auto correct, obviously. I have only been one time before and it was also so-so.

Went to Frontier burger. First time there and to me, not worth the price. Had the bacon cheeseburger. There was an overly sweet taste and I noticed they had put mushrooms on mine. They had mistakenly given me someone else's order and promptly remade mine. The service was fast but the burger was just okay. Had the onion rings which were skinny shoestrings and I liked those. Also tried the cherry pie. The inside was warm but the outside was chewy and the glaze was too waxy
Overall I paid 11.00 and felt it was overpriced by about double.

We had a leisurely breakfast at Pancake Joe's. Solid diner experience. Good coffee, huge portions, great service. It's not the prettiest place but it's relatively clean and they serve a good breakfast at a reasonable price. My only complaint is that the hash browns were too greasy, but my husband got the ranch potatoes instead; they are greasy also but not as bad as the hash browns.

They have a new location opening up on August 6th or 9th on Ingram Road. Way too far to be a regular spot for us but if ever over there we would not hesitate to stop.
