Thai Dee on Blanco (inside 410) for the first time and it was excellent. Lunch special portions were large and more importantly everything was flavorful and fresh. 1/2 Thai husband said it was the closest he has had to his Thai mom's cooking in years.

Grumpy's on Nacogdoches outside of 1604. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table on Saturday mid-morning. They were busy and it's not a big place ( although my son said there was an upstairs seating area that he noticed on the way out, I wasn't paying attention.) HUGE portions. Son had breakfast tacos and they were bursting and he enjoyed them. Hubby had steak and eggs and he said the steak was actually decent and it was cooked properly. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and it was almost Frisbee-sized. It was a huge breast of chicken with *swiss* (wink wink Swiss American) cheese melted with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. Very tasty but next time we'll know to share a plate. The sweet tea my son had was too sweet to drink. ...not sure if it was just that batch but they brought him an unsweetened tea instead.

They were selling what looked like homemade pies and people were calling in and the hostess would walk to the display and take a pre-boxed pie and write the customer's name on it for pickup. They looked really good and at the rate they were selling, I'm convinced they are.

It's a cute and fun place to eat and we'll be back.

Went back to Poppy's Pizza on Blanco to try the Stromboli. Delicious !! Not for the weak-hearted (size).

China Rose during lunch hour. Wow, had I read the reviews before I went there then I wouldn't have ordered anything. This place is a terrible knock-off of Pei Wei. Sticking with Panda Express from now on for southside Chinese.

Pancake Joe's on Donaldson for breakfast. I've heard a lot about the place. It's a little bit of a drive from where I live but it was good. I don't know that I would make the drive again tho.

Culvers - for a snak pak Swiss burger. For about$4.90 you get a nice burger, small fries and a drink. Unless you want a giant grease hit - it's a pretty good cheap lunch.

Oolongs for dinner - eggplant with pork - pretty good also.
