organic foods in san antonio?
i'm brand new to san antonio and i'm searching out good organic food sources. Are there any good farmers markets in town? What is the best grocery store for organic produce? i live in the medical center area and would love to find something close by.

Check out Whole Foods in the Quarry or Sun Harvest on Callahan. There are several farmers markets around town. Search the old threads and you'll find'em
And welcome!

search the threads for the Pearl Farmer's Market. It's every Saturday 9-1 at Pearl Brewery.
The HEB+ near me has a pretty good assortment of organic produce, too.
Welcom to SA!

Even the Wal-Mart Supercenters and the Super Targets are carrying some organic produce these days.

I would also recommend trying out Greenling Organic Delivery - Local food and Organic produce and groceries home delivered - Austin and San Antonio, a home delivery service for locally grown/organic foods. You order your shopping list online, and a nice friendly deliveryman brings it to your door once a week (or whenever you want). It's great for people who just can't make it to the farmer's market, or who want more variety of products than you can get at the typical FM. All organic, plus most of it is grown locally. Great stuff.

Many "wild oats" organic products are now on sale at sun harvest as that brand name is being re-named after being bought out by I believe Whole Foods.

Funny, I just happened to post this on another thread and then saw yours...so thought I'd put here.....
I recently found this greatttt healthfood store that I love-Rita's Market,... Rita's Market - Discount Natural Foods, organic, gluten-free, local produce
I was driving past and decided to stop in even though those lil' places are usually too expensive, and wow am I glad I did cause they were even cheaper than HEB on alot of stuff that I buy. And wayyy cheaper than any of the big health food stores, esp. Whole Foods, etc. and I just could not believe their prices were that good. And they will order anything you are looking for that they don't have and it will be cheaper. They ordered a couple things even like this great Giovanni tea tree oil mint shampoo for me(that makes your scalp tingle a lil which I love and wish I could get even more mint in one) (Alba leave in conditioner is good too for my kids esp. ponytails) and there is a natural biofreeze type topical pain reliever there that's pretty decent and another one my friend said really helped, etc, and they were at least $2.50 cheaper on each thing. I think it's cause they're really into healthy living and they grow their own organic vegetables they sell each week too, and veryy nice people. This one I go to is in New Braunfels, right off the 35 and Seguin. They even order hormone free grass fed beef (which my chef husband says is better quality) and free range chicken if you want, and it was good. I used to be vegetarian for 14 years before I started eating meat when I got pregant with my kids, so I've known how expensive stuff can be at health food stores, in California and now Texas...so I thought I'd share this lil' gem I found. Worth a lil drive, esp. if you want to stock up a lil and can even call ahead to make sure they stock something in particular. Greenling seemed cool and I wish I could do it sometime(who doesn't love sitting at home waiting for stuff to come to them), was just a lil tooo expensive for my family, and it doesn't deliver where we live anyway.
