Looks like the Mighty San Antonio..err...Dallas Cowboys continue their losing ways.

SA will NEVER get a team of its own. Too many Cowgirls fans.

Never say never. As soon as the cowpigs become a lousy team again these local fairweathered Dallas fans will jumpship as soon as San Antonio gets its own team. Mark my word.

They need a major league baseball team. I hear they are in the running but they should of already had one given that the city is now bigger than Dallas.

Plus, as par with the tradition, some greedy billionaire team owner will demand taxpayers pay for the new arena, and since it's everyoe else's money, he'll expect the best at the highest price possible just for the sake of bragging rights.

We just cannot afford it.

The only other pro sports team San Antonio could afford is maybe NHL hockey, because the players don't get paid as much, the arenas are smaller so there just isn't a need for a billion-dollar super-stadium, and due to the smaller arenas don't need a many fans to support. If San Jose and Miami can support NHL hockey teams then so can San Antonio. But this is San Antonio where every Mexican and American soccer fan would pave the streets with blood if we got a hockey team over a soccer or baseball team.

Plus there are pro sports leagues that are not exactly "big mainstream" like football, soccer, et al. such as swimming, cycling, and basically the stuff you see at the Olympics. They have much smaller fan bases but their events do attract national and even international coverage

Well a NHL team could just play in the same arena as the Spurs like the Stars do with the Mavericks in Dallas.

That is true. Plus it's easier to get an expansion team in the NHL than in NFL.

BUT there are a TON of basketball and hockey games per season, so I'd expect there would be a few scheduling difficulties if an NHL team used the AT&T center.

I'm not sure that the Rampage have ever sold out the AT&T Center for a single game. The Rampage game I attended drew about 6,000. A half-full arena for minor-league games demonstrates that San Antonio wouldn't support the NHL.

It's good to see all the San Antonio TV stations and newspapers celebrating the Texans huge victory over the Colts

It's just a minor-league team. Our minor league baseball team doesn't fare any better, and previous minor/Canadian league football teams did so badly that all attempts at it folded. That's because most people aren't interested in minor league sports.

..................and for the record, minor league hockey has survived in San Antonio longer than minor league/CFL arena football ever did.

But none if it really matters. Komrade Volffe, the Komandante who rules this city, wants baseballl and soccer, so guess what we will get before we have any chance at an NFL or NHL team?
