Default Considering relocation from DFW

Hello, I was hoping to have someone help me with my quest for information about relocating to SA from DFW. I'm currently a Licensed Vocational Nurse looking to further my nursing education and I am interested in schools in SA, particulary, Galen College of Nursing located by UT Health Center. I've only visited SA once and spent a couple months at Fort Sam Houston, but was mostly limited to the base.

Can someone please recommend any nice neighborhoods or areas within reasonable commuting distance to this area? Can you also tell me what areas to avoid? I would prefer a more suburban area with newer single family homes. My husband also works in the medical field so we would need to be within close enough range of a hospital or surgery center. Thank you for your responses!

Galen offers a RN program, not sure if they offer any kind of specialty training though. DH went there for LVN school and it is a very comprehensive, accelerated program with excellent instructors.....per DH. Good luck!

The area around the medical center is definitely suburban. There is some new construction in 78249 off of Prue Rd. Then there's this whole massive area on the other side of Bandera, and more outside 1604 but I can't help you with that. I'm an inside 410 type of girl. But the relo thread pointed out here can help you sort some of that out.

I work at UTHSCSA so I'm familiar with the med center area. Really great lunch places around here - I can help you with those, for sure!

Best of luck with your move and with your schooling!
