Question Does anyone know what Brighton is like?

It is a center for disabled kids. Here is the link:
Brighton SA > HOME

My son has Down's, he is four. I am looking for a program for him to start in August.

I personally don't know anything about Brighton. Here's a link to the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation. Gordon Hartman Family Foundation

They are an outstanding organization and may help you with referrals.

My daughter is in therapy and receives her care from Brighton. I don't think they do everything perfectly, but they do an overall good job. She has three therapists, one is exceptional very friendly down to earth approach, one has been in this line of work for a long time so she is very thorough and is just a natural, and the third one is a bit more agressive than I really care for, but my DD doesnt seem to notice or mind. They all are very knowledgeable about their work, the therapy, very one on one with your child (NEVER have forgotten my DDs name or history), and not sure if this is a concern for you, but they will try "alternative" methods. My DD is going to start auditory therapy, which apparently isnt something done very often. One thing that has bugged me before is sometimes they run pretty late on the appointments, for me its not that big of a deal anymore since I am no longer working, but if I still was it would be an issue. Good luck in your search! I know how difficult and stressful it can be when choosing the right facilities and course of treatment for your child. Message me further if you would like to.

We had our child there for a short time. They seemed to do ok with most of the kids but my 2 year old with cerebral palsy may have been more than they could handle. It was too much for him as well. They seemed to do good with autistic children and those with Downs. We moved him to Respite and now our son is at home now with a nurse and has adjusted best to that.

I'm a little worried my son might imitate autistic behaviors.
