Back when we were filming Pearl harbor in England we helicoptered a Starbucks coffee in for Ben Affleck since he wanted one really bad and he had lots of money. It made the news.

Had dinner at Wildfish last night hoping to find some, the managers had no idea what I was talking about, but dinner was good. Then on a rec. from a CD poster went by Kirby's Steakhouse for dessert and the live jazz and BAM! King Copper River on the off menu features. $49 a plate, they brought out a filet to show me, looks beautiful. Not cheap but, like many have said, well worth it. Mmmmmmmm. Going back tonight for half price wine and Salmon.

Found one place, will keep posting details when I find more.

Claudia Zapata mentioned eating this salmon over the weekend in her column today. Maybe if you send her an email, she'll tell you where she buys it?

Reporting back:

It was AWESOME. Had it cooked medium rare, beautiful color and rich flavor. It came with a salad and some saffron rice and a chive lemon butter. 8oz portion was just right and left me with room for their spice cake a la mode. The manager said they would keep it on the menu as long as they could get it which will probably be another 2 weeks.

RAPICESSA is on a distinguished road
I had some in Seattle a few years ago. It's really good, I've been tainted for life. You can order direct from a local fish market in Seattle we visited called "pikeplacefish"

QUESTION ~

Is there any way to find out when the "season" ends? I might be up in the Seattle area at the end of June, and wondering if it'll still be in the restaurants then. (Otherhalf has said that even during off-season, the salmon is SO much better up there.)
