I posted this in the red-light thread, however I did not want it to take way from that topic.

As pertaining to this topic, rumors are abound that Nascar, the city of Schertz and out-of-state developers are in talks to build a track along 35 in the city of Schertz.

What do you guys think about this?

I've heard about Houston maybe getting a track, maybe that fell through.

And if you think about it, that stretch of 35 would be perfect for many reasons.

35 between the two south-central Texas metros is the most traveled section of freeway in the entire state of Texas. Second, a of land along side 35 in the schertz (residential) area and up to New Braunfels is either commercial or industrial meaning not to many homes would be describe by the noise or traffic.

Another good reason is that it wouldn't be built in SA or Bexar so if any tax payer money were needed it probably wouldn't be that big of a hassle.

Are you sure it's in Schertz? Pretty much everything within Schertz city limits along I-35 is developed already, unless it's back off 35 closer to the railroad tracks. Maybe Cibolo? Selma? Where have you heard the rumor?

Schertz city limits go over 35 and stretch a pretty while along 35.

A lot of that is either commercial or industrial parks.

Here is a map of the city limits for Schertz as well as what the land is zoned for.

If you notice, the Schertz city limits basically border New Braunfels city limits.

This would be an excellent consolation prize given SA was unsucessful in luring the MLB and NFL.

I think this is an excellent idea. I hope it happens.

If I may, could you clarify for me if the source of this rumor is a reliable, concrete source?

Thanks.
