since several people mentioned it...

my salary is just fine. this person will not be getting my job or your job. this is about the IT industry as a whole, which is non-existant. there are very few big companies, even less good companies, and no prospects for a quick improvement. on average, an IT job is low paying in SA. companies here would rather pay 5 people 20k than one person 100k who is 10x better.

austin on the other hand, has many places to work at decent salaries.

San Antonio has many places to work at excellent salaries, for the proper skill sets.

i'm guessing that our definitions of excellent salaries are quite different. i've noticed that a lot in SA.

we were just discussing this at work today. there are jobs here, but a lot of them are government military related and usually require high security clearances. The salaries are also very good and I know what good is, but would be interested in what others feel good is.

depends on the job. I'm a network administrator for a medium size production company in the 50-60k range.

I consider a excellent salary for my skill set to be ~120-160k.

Yes, I just hate it when people talk down the IT opportunities here in the great city of San Antonio when my friends and peer group mostly work in IT at various locations around town. I guess no one told them that the IT Industry was 'non existent' in San Antonio...

I'm not in IT...but those salaries sound lower than what some of what my friends in IT make. NYC, NJ and the Bay area...both development and NA.
Well below what I make as well.

There are very different perceptions as to what are "good" and "excellent" salaries.
