Rolly pollys keep on sneaking in. I find a couple every day. Anybody know how they're doing it? Outlets and switches are sealed up tight, and I don't see how they could get in through windows. Maybe it's the doors? It doesn't make any sense for them to come in through weep holes in the bricks because that wouldn't lead anywhere...

Why are there so many around? Maybe they're already thirsty now that the rain stopped?

Got gaps in your door sweeps or under your thresholds? Best way to see those is to shine a bright light at one side of the door and look at where the door is next to the threshold or the door frame. If light can get through the gaps around the door while the door is closed, bugs can too!

If you want an organic product that will help get rid of them outside the house, Sluggo Plus will do the job. Gardenville sells it.

I've noticed a gap in the lower corner of the back door... very small though and I have no idea how to correct it. It's almost as if the rubber on the side closest to the hinges doesn't want to let the door close all the way, but it needs to be thicker on the side away from them. Any thoughts on that one - I mean it's easy to go get more of the rubber but how to get it thicker on the side away from the hinges?

Silicone sealant or expanding foam sealant would provide a quick fix. Just be careful not to let it bond the door shut when you apply it!

They don't normally like to get in houses, you may have wood rot somewhere...

I find mounds of the little guys outside - there's landscaping pretty much around the entire place and I think that's where they normally call home. Though I'll be pulling a lot of base molding off soon and if there's anything going on it'll be pretty obvious. I've always been a bit paranoid about stuff leaking and there haven't been any signs of it so far.

RE: foam - I'd never thought of that... maybe try doing some of that stuff first and then install the gasket material. Maybe install gutters behind the house too since they seem to like moisture.

But bugs looking for something to drink indoors - that'll probably come later this summer?

Invite my 4 year old over, he collects them and voluntarily brings them in the house! His little friend has a rolly polly farm that he now wants. The joy of boys, bugs, and Texas! I don't have any other advice for you, just wanted to share that! Good Luck!

Ok, thanks. I don't know what pillbugs are either so I will google them and see what I get.
