Hi All,

My bf and I love seafood. We are looking for something different in SA. We have been to and like the following: Sea Island (good price, okay food); Joe's Crab Shack (okay price, good food); PapaDeux (decent); Red Lobster (mostly decent).

We are not looking for a place that would only have fried seafood. We really like lobster, crab and shrimp. Any recommendations? Possible surrounding areas of SA also?

Stacey

Try this place:
Home - Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant - As Fresh As You Can Get! | Bass Pro Shops

It's inside the Bass Pro Shop at the Rim and I've heard it's very good.

You and the other posters have named most of the better places I've been to, but there are a lot of "out of the box" choices.. Great Mexican seafood a Ernestos, you might try the Kung Pao lobster at FORMOSA GARDENS, or the oyster pancake at KIKU GARDEN, plus I'm sure others could recommend choices at other non-seafood restaurants.

For taste and price, I have always liked SEA ISLAND, they do have a lot of fried food, but be sure to try the whole fish dishes, and the lemon pepper shrimp

Stacey - the best seafood restaurant in SA is Sandbar, located at Pecan & St. Marys. It's owned by Andrew Weissman, chef/owner of Le Reve. It's really world-class - you won't be dissapointed.

Beat me to it. Sandbar is the absolute best seafood restaurant in the city. They are in a completely different class than the restaurants you mentioned though. Preparation will be focused on freshness and natural flavors vs sauces etc. Cost will also be higher.

I love crab, lobster, and shrimp too, but don't immediately associate them with any particular SA restaurant. You may want to consider Thai (Tong's on Austin HWY) and Chinese (Vann's on Broadway) takes on the aforementioned.

I will also throw Wildfish on 1604 out there as 1 of the cities better destinations for fish (based on feedback from others). It is a meet-market on certain nights, so plan accordingly. Menu can be found here: Welcome to Eddie V's

Happy hunting...

Have you tried all (or even most) of the recommended places here? Just curious, since Sandbar has received VERY good reviews.
