Then she's got far bigger problems than some ants running around, wouldn't you say?

She already asked in post #10 if she should "press on and get an exterminator" and he said yes. So did someone else. Obviously it's an option for her.

I have had great success using Grant's Kills Ants stakes and tell everyone I can about how well they work for us. I use them indoors and out. I don't know if you can buy them at your Home Depots & Lowes there, but you can certainly order them online.

Ant Control and Ant Killer Products by Grant's Kills Ants

Good luck!

Diatomaceous earth can be spread around the perimeter of your house to keep out bugs, too

Taken from someones post here, we use it regularly and it is great. It is a natural product and works well, we sprinkle it everywhere and all the way starting/ending at our property line.

It will take care of the bugs - whole foods and sun harvest used to carry it or maybe a garden store.

Since we're going "all natural" and we don't want to hire the professionals, try this:

Adopt an ant eater.

That one's for you, Flyer.

it really is pretty easy. We had the typical worker kind not like red fire ants or anything but they were black and annoying. I took the cheap hill country fare brand quaker oatmeal and sprinkled them on the ant mound did it for about 3 days and i noticed the mound was smaller and smaller until eventually it was gone.

i dont think its a permanent fix but certainly a cheap one.

Try and use Ortho's "Home Defense." I've found that stuff to be extremely effective against all pests.

Default Foggers

I'd try foggers first. Really cheap first try. Worked for me. I'd get one for each room (this includes kitchen, living room) and garage. Set them off and run like the dickens. You may be creeped out though when you come back in the house and it is so lonely because all of the ants are dead and nothing is moving.
