For a REAL Jewish deli experience, may I suggest a road trip up to Austin to the Katz Deli from NY...

Katz Home Page

Hard to beat a Katz experience...and soooooo worth the drive!

I had my first Katz experience sitting in the same chair where "Harry met Sally" and she showed him how well a woman can "fake" it...they have a big sign hanging over the table...too funny if you ever saw the movie!

I LOVE that place.....soooooooo worth it! PLUS, it is open 24/7. So if you get the urge (or wake up at 4am like we do) and want to sneak up there without traffic...you can ENJOY the gain without the pain!!!!

Katz's is a touch pseudo. They serve Blintzes with whipped cream. The waitress was totally confused by Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray tonic, even though it is on the menu.

There's also ManyHattans (sp?) at the Arboretium area - same comment.

Both are better than nothing. There was a deli that tried it on Huebner Oaks - flopped. Crappy, so sad.

Calculates cost of pastrami on rye plus gas to get to and from Austin.

Decides it worth it! Road trip
