There is :
Funtastic Playland, San Antonio's Ultimate Party and Play Destination! my 8yo DD loves this place
Mini Town - Childrens birthday party place in san antonio texas better for little ones like toddler to 5 imo.
and the bounce house place at Rolling Oaks mall...Inflatable Wonderland – The Leader in Inflatable Fun! » San Antonio (http://www.inflatablewonderland.com/locations/san-antonio/ - broken link)

I just re-read and noticed you said "free" sorry. I know on Tuesday & Thursdays it's half off ($5) at Inflatable Wonderland and the month of June Funtasticplayland is $5 on Mondays.
I have yet to find anything in town that is free for my DD except the play place at Ingram Mall which always winds up costing me money because it's close to Dippin dots or the pretzel place!

I talked to a girlfriend of mine last night - she's a SAHM to a 2 year old and a 10 month old. She said one of her kids' favorite things is just filling up the itty bitty toddler pool they have and splashing around. They also ADORE bubbles so they have a ton of different bubble blowing thingies - the wands, the bubble-guns, etc.

She said they regulary go to two story-times a week, and usually have a "big day out" with her mom's group - the zoo, a park, whatever. But apparently most the time they go to their local park in the a.m. then hang out in the little pool in the afternoons.

She also said she feels SA is pretty kid friendly with lots to do, but that her mom's group was a HUGE deal because between the 6 or 8 of them, they know all the fun, free/cheap activities!

I don't know where you are located, and it's not free, but there is a big indoor inflatable place off of hwy 46, north on 281 called Emerald Rainbow. It's only $5 for 9months-3yrs, free for under that age and $10 for older. Parents get in for free. Wednesdays are half off. I am not sure how long that is going to last so you may want to call and find out. They have a special section for the little ones so you don't have to worry about getting knocked down by the big kids. Each section is supervised and they have a long counter infront where you can connect to your computer and still keep an eye on the little ones. They have a couch section with a tv on the wall and tables to sit at . They have another room that is a little theater room and also have a little salon inside. They do nails, pedis, and I think haircuts. Here is the link:http://www.emerald-rainbow.com/default.asp
It is nice and cool in there.
