A group of taiwanese friends and I went out for a celebration dinner at the thai cafe on perrin beitel for an awesome thai buffet dinner BUT they don't have the buffet on Saturday nights.
SO, they made a group decision to go to the China Harbor on 281 & 1604, accross the highway from the movie theatre.
Those Asians sucked down more crab legs than I thought humanly possible and seemed to dig on most of the dishes. I noticed that I was the only one at the table that tried the sushi. It turns out that they had all deemed it inadequate on prior visits.
For a great buffet, Thai cafe is king. When they're closed China Harbor on 281 is a suitable alternative.

Yea, when our girls were still at home (adopted asian) you should have seen the look of terror on the faces of the folks at Red Lobster when we use to go strolling in for the "Crabfest" all you can eat....needless to say they made NO money off of our table. I think each of my girls can eat their weight in seafood!

LOL I freaked out at a casino buffet in Lake Charles--an Asian couple there had a pile of spent crab legs that they could barely see over. We were wondering what was up with that.

There is a place on Perrin-Beitel right outside the loop. I believe it is called Golden Phoenix. Pretty good food for a chinese buffet.

Could not pay me to go back into the place in the shopping plaza at the corner of 90 and Military again after that expo a year or so ago on their place.

Paka:
Sorry...forgot to add, my last visit to SA was a couple of years ago ('07) and my friends took me to a Mongolian-Chinese buffet type of Rest., ..located at the corner of 90 and Military. The shopping strip where a K-Mart and a Handy Andy (still there?) once stood and I haD no complaints.
My question...is this the place you're refering to as being nasty?...so I'll know next visit.
Thanks.

Every time I like a buffet, my wife sees it on the Kitchen cops for cooties and other vile behaviors in the kitchen. Seems to go with the buffet territory.

That would be the one....if you notice a HUGE drop off in military business since that expose ran...I really kinda wonder how they stay in business with the hit they took.
