Good thread and great info from most, but:

Is there a history between you all? Why call someone arrogant when they are just trying to add to the thread and correct any misinformation? How can you tell someone's "tone" by their writing?

It's no big deal; you'll get called lots worse on this board if you hang around long enough. I'll admit to having (and giving) strong opinions about a few certain things, and I'm not always a sweetheart. But there's a contingent of folks here who feel the need to "referee" debates, for lack of a better term. I have a theory that these are the same people who were RA's in the dorm at college...

Haha...touche! Actually, the RA's were riding some of us a bit too hard. Debra Knapp Bonilla actually roomed with the RA our freshman year. (Sans the Bonilla, of course). I'm not sure how she liked that situation.

Maybe it's payback time?

Seriously...it isn't a big deal IF you have been around long enough. I do apologize to the other poster that doesn't know "our history". Dvlpr... I would bet you have your good moments....just like I have my bad ones.

OP, walk away from any deal that you dont find acceptable. forget realtor fees, you need to be alright with the final price.

i am bothered that it is so difficult to buy a house without an agent. i realize some people need and want their help, just like some people need a mechanic or a travel agent, but others dont. i cant wait for the day where i can post my own house in the MLS.

That day might be coming - back in the northwest there's a company and website called Redfin where you can post houses for sale for a flat fee. It was a much better site than realtor.com - loads more pics and other stuff from a user's perspective. I don't remember the costs though, but they also offered brokerage services to facilitate the buying / selling of the house. Commission might've been 1%... I really don't remember the details.

But they've expanded to other major cities on the east and west coast as of a year or two ago. Check them out just to see what might be coming someday.

Practically everything on here is an opinion and should be treated as such. But this kind of bickering of "tone" detracts from the topic at hand. Here's a bit of advice to all: These are just words on a forum. I'm done and would like to focus on the thread's topic.

The thread went off-topic at post #2. Just so ya know. Geez, we already have a mod in place that stays completely 100% on top of things like this.

Who was it that was saying something about people who feel the need to referee?
