Default Neighborhoods- Audie Murphy/ Texas Health Science Center

I'm looking for a neighborhood with public transpo service, and a good high school. Does anyone know whether the area around Audie Murphy VA hospital/ UT Texas Helath Science Center meets my criteria?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Korina

I am thinking the medical center would be North Side ISD, and its a good area.

The best area would be around DeZavala and Huebner... really nothing good too close to the hospital. I think Clark High School is the only good high school in that area. This area is not too far from the hospital.

The medical center area is primarily split between Marshall and Clark High Schools. Both are in NISD, and both are good (though Clark is arguably a bit better). Health Careers High School (a magnet in NISD) is also in the area and is generally recognized as one of the better schools in the entire city.

Brandeis (brand new school) and O'Connor are also good NISD schools with subdivisions relatively close to the Medical Center.

If you want a good, historic subdivision with easy public transportation to the Med Center, I would invite you to check out my own Monticello Park just down Fredericksburg Road. We have many doctors who live in the area because it is a quick 10 minute (or less) trip. The schools, however, are not generally considered good... but there is always private.

Would have to agree with the previous two posters. The majority of the Medical Center is zoned to Marshall HS, which is still a good school but you may hear from some people that it has slipped a little over the years. Your best bet as far as schools are concerned are O'Connor, Clark, Brandeis and Marshall.

Not sure if you prefer a house or apartment. There are a high concentration of apartment complexes in the Medical Center. It's just a matter of finding the right one for you. Most of the neighborhoods surronding the Medical Center are older, with many nice homes. Hope this helps.
