Don't let anybody kid you. I am a native and lifetime resident. Comparing the humidity to other locales is irrelevant. San Antonio is usually so humid from May to September that if you are outdoors very long, you will notice.

askinnybuddy,

Have you ever been to Hilton Head, SC? I have, during the month of July and August. Everyday, the moment you set out the door, you literally begin to sweat. No exaggeration there. Still a very nice place but the humidity there is really bad. There is a case for comparison in regards to humidity.

Wait until August, September, October and then let me know if the humidity still seems low in the 100 degree heat. Anything south of San Antonio and humidity gets pretty bad; the closer you get to the ocean the worse it obviously becomes.

I lived in Philadelphia for a year and there were times that i thought the humidity there was worse than San Antonio. Not saying that San Antonio humidity isn't bad, but there are certainly areas that are worse.

Default Humiditiy and Sweating

Maybe I need a better definition of humidity... my understanding of humidity is how much moisture is in the air? It is HOT here and I do sweat when it is over 90 out but humidity for me is really bad when the air feels "muggy" or "thick" not just hot. I have not felt the air here too be all that bad most of the time and we keep our thermostat set at 80 all summer and spend more time outdoors than in.

Definitely. When I say humidity, I'm talking your can pratically cut through the air. It feels hot, thick, heavy, you sweat just sitting. It's also why we have beautiful gardens though. So if the humidity is bad in SA, I should be able to grow tropicals in the summer, yes?

My hair is curly, but it gets downright frizzy in the summer. And whenever it rains. We do have plants that bloom in the summer, although most can't take the mid-day hot Texas sun. This year has been so strange--I can't remember ever getting so many dreary days in a row. Usually we are so hot by now that it's almost too late to plant anything. Must be all you Seattle-ites!

I wondered about the weather and all the rain and cloudy days we've had so far this spring. I remember last April it was in the 90's and up practically every day and it only rained a few times. I hope the rain is not following me from WA. I do not like rain or clouds but I do like all the green that it has produced. The whole area looks a lot better now that the trees are filled in and all the grass is green.

BTW... I have curly hair as well and dealing with the frizz is annoying but really no worse than it was back in WA.

Red face Humidity

Personally, I don't consider san antonio to be humid. I can go out during the summer months but it has to be in the shade only. In other words my backyard is towards the setting sun, I never spent time out there. The front yard with all the shade is so confortable. I can be out all evening.

If you want to see humid, go to austin. I was considering moving there, but I spent a couple of days at my sisters, and by the time I got out of her shower to dry myself, I was sweating like a pig. I sped out of Austin, I would have flown, but I had a car. It was that horribly humid!

Jules07, no I did not live in Phoenix, but I did have the choice at one time to move to Phoenix or SA, and my husband opted for the later. My cousin lives in Phoenix, and when we go to visit, I am so happy to not be sweating every moment that I'm outside! The past few days here in SA have been miserable - the other day it was 74 percent humidity and 84 degrees. YUCK! I did live in Hawaii for a few years, and the humidity there is high also, but at least they typically have ocean breezes. I lived in Aiea (near Pearl Harbor/Pearl City).
