OMG!!! DH and I just went to Gourmet Burger Grill for lunch and he and I both feel we enjoyed the BEST burger we have ever had in our lives there!!! He got the cowboy special, I got the wellington burger...they were AWESOME!!!! It was hard to believe that they were both BURGERS because the taste was so totally different. We were both blown away by the fresh, perfectly cooked, GENEROUS portions of food. His came with the HOMEMADE chips, I got the beer battered onionrings. We WILL be back!! Place was very clean, service was awesome and food was fantastic.

The GREAT news is they are hunting for sites of the next TWO GBG's they plan to open in SA...and we HIGHLY ENCOURAGED HIM to consider the Potranco/Alamo Ranch area. He said that he would take another look at the area after we shared with him the record breaking success that Cheddars, Freddies, Jamba Juice have had in this area...so PLEASE give it a try and email them if you are interested in seeing one in this area and help make his decision EASY to decide to come on down our neck of the woods!!!

Trust me, it has GOT to be good for me to say I would venture back to the 1604/281 area for this meal!!! (Sorry Jules, my ban of SO can apply to EVERYTHING but this place!!!)

Boy, a lot of people rave about his place, but I'll never go back. Mom and I went once and food was horrible and sooooo overpriced. Cheese fries were literally soggy french fries with velvetta spread on top of it -- we couldn't even eat them. I like that they offer free burgers on Mother's and Father's day and seem to do a lot for military, but their goodwill doesn't make up for the food. Double yuck.

So far we've got one "Double Yuck" who admits that "a lot of people rave about this place" ... and one "they were awesome" with "generous portions of food"....anyone else??

DAng...and I MISSED OUT on the military discount...had NO IDEA!!!! That would have made it EVEN MORE AWESOME!!!!

Sorry you had a bad experience...I know that no place is for everyone...but it took all the fantastic reviews for me to venture up to that darn intersection and I must say I would do it again in a NY second. You are correct, they do not have the $1 menu there...but you good quality food cost.

Just can't help but wonder, did you let them KNOW that you were not pleased with your selection??? After enjoying their very warm hospitality and excellent service, I can not help but wonder if they would have QUICKLY made things right if there was something not up to standards.

Sounds like I might have to add this one to "the list". I really do try to avoid that entire area, but maybe we can get in during an off hour. Are they open at 4AM?

I have eaten there and loved the burger. My burger had great seasoning and had just the right juicy-ness. My husband ordered a salad and there was so much that, he couldn't finish it all. I got the sweet potato fries and those were yummy. If you sign up and give you their email address you get the weekly specials emailed to you. Kids eat free all day on Wednesday and they also have a family fun night with a balloon artist on on Wed. from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

must have just stopped by on a bad day, when the cook didn't show or was hung over... or I ordered the one thing on the menu everyone else knows not to get...I have that kind of luck

will swing by another day and try it again...stay tune for the dramatic results!!

Anyone try Smashburger near Evans and Hwy 281 yet??

You can avoid that intersection, sort of. If you take the exit after the 281 exit off of 1604, I think it's Gold Canyon, and do a turn around at the light. It's an easy right turn off the access rd. When it's time to head home , there is a rd behind there that leads past the gym and hits Sonterra rd. Take Sontera to Hardy Oak and that will get you back on 1604. I have never had any traffic issues going that route.
