By the time I moved to San Antonio in the eighties, it was already an institution - I don't know the details, but I believed it was operated by Maury Maverick Huey (long-time owner of Hung Fong Restaurant). It disappeared some years back, sometime between 1998 and 2008 when I was living in California.

However, on the other end of the reputation scale, I remember another restaurant that tried the Mexican/Chinese combo in the form of a buffet back in the nineties called...wait for it...Wok-a-Mole. Ehhhh.
I remember that one. Chinese was awesome!

Golden Wok is hands down the best in the city. Its best to go during the lunch hour as dinner is kinda pricey.

I would say Wurzbach just because of the atmosphere and they offer dim sum, create your own stir fry, and delivery-all of which Marbach doesn't. The recipes/menu/prices vary only very slightly (different owners).

Waiting for them to finish the new Marbach location across the highway. It will probably resemble the Austin location. Don't know if they'll add dim sum and stir fry there or not.

It looks like the Austin buiding, that one has a dim-sum menu.

The Golden Wok is ok. The Dim Sum is what makes it stand out.

"Beijing Chinese Restaurant" on 13730 Embassy Row is our favorite. Having lived in Japan near the Chinatown in Yokohama for 12 years, we were accustomed to excellent Chinese food. We haven't found truly great Chinese food here in San Antonio, but ‎this place has good fried rice and basic Chinese dishes, and the atmosphere is cozy and clean.
