This is not good news for a chinese food lover moving to SA from Houston. I hope I can find something yummy!
I don't know what to tell you except that I have to have real Chinese cooking and I have to train in Houston two or three times a month, so for me it's worth the three hour drive out there. Though I can't move there until I finish my coursework and find a job there...

Austin does have some good Chinese food - Asian Market on Spicewood, if it's still there - is remarkably authentic. You can post on Austin city data and find out more. And it's just 1.5 hours drive from here.

Gin's at Evers and 410.

Various people at work swear by China Star on Babcock, but I wasn't impressed.

There is a place called Golden Bowl on Austin Hwy--it is family owned and cooked to order. The wife waits the tables and the husband cooks the food. She walks around complaining if you dont eat all of your food and she gets a little annoyed if you add soy sauce...the food is awsome. I have eaten there for the last 7 years and have never had a bad meal.

Funny! Sounds like a real Chinese mom-type, I'll try it and come back here with some review of the place maybe.

Yuck. Why would anyone ever create a restaurant called China Latina???!! I think I heard of that place.
I'm sorry but that's gross. Hispanic food and Chinese food in the same room is just unacceptable and don't mix. Period.

China Latina is not a combination of Mexican/Chinese food. It's a regular Chinese restaurant.
