Default Thank you to SA's Public Servants...

How are San Antonios Firemen, Police, and other Public Servants thanked for their hard work and dedication? I know that we have teacher appreciation and such but do we have appreciation days for all public servants?

Would it be odd to take donuts or cookies to our local sub station? Just to say thank you!

They are thanked with their paychecks. The public pays taxes so that they can be "thanked'.

I was thinking the SAME thing.

But no, it would not be out of line to send a few dozen to your local firehouse, sure they would love it.

Don't forget the social workers, those in non-profit, animal services staff etc

It would not be out of line at all. Every now and then you see a story on the news about someone doing this. I say do it with pride and do it often!!

Their pay checks should be a lot bigger. It takes a very special person to be able to do the things they do. imo...

The guys and girls at the fire stations really appreciate when someone takes the time to thank them, and sometimes it's just the thought and time that count. Keep in mind that at many firehouses if the item is homemade or the seal on something has been broken they have to throw it away.

In regards to the paycheck FirstClass, your're right. We are very, very thankful for a steady job with good benefits, and I am also thankful for others and their families that every job is not so emotionally draining and dangerous.

Edit: "sometimes it's just the thought and time that count" I mean to say that you can just stop by and say thanks and shake some hands

I want to thank all the medical staff at BAMC and Wilford Hall who provided outstanding service to my wife for the last trying 6 months.

Would be nice if we were all thankful and appreciative of all the people we come in contact with every day....the girl that pours your coffee at Jim's, the guy who changes your tire at the shop, not just cops and doctors. Pipe dream, of course, but what a different kind of day we'd all have.
