Well after reading 940's thread about old SA, I packed up the kids and went out!!

After living here for about 22yrs, I must say I too thought that "there is nothing to do here in San Antonio". Boy was I SO VERY WRONG!!

I decided to go look at SA through a tourists eyes. I had my camera in my lap the whole time I was driving and started driving down Broadway @ Pig Stand. Well I've been to Pig Stand before so just drove by it and loved the nice little drive.

Then I came upon a place that was mentioned so much:

I never went there as a kid; I went to Sunshine in the Southside. Now that I have kids though I always wanted to find a little Amusement park for them. So we pulled in the parking lot, mainly so I could take pics of the closed place, when I noticed people inside and kids on the rides. My daughter Juliet IMMEDIATELY noticed the Merry-go-round and almost jumped out of her seat!! So we got off and they had a great time!!!

The rides are old and could use a paint job but to my 2 and 1 yr old... they might as well have been broken and they would have still enjoyed them lol.

We went to the Olmos Pharmacy but for some odd reason it was closed.. even though the hours of operation said they should have been open. (anyone have any info?) So we went to the Classic Denny's Diner instead.

After that we went to the Witte Museum and they had a world of fun. And I loved it!!!

We also went downtown to the Wax Museum and my kids were on the Oprah Show LMAO!!!

I San Antonio has so much to offer if only one took the Tourist Approach. Thanks 940 for reminding me of just how great SA really was and IS STILL.

Excellent point. Once my husband and I stayed downtown for a night and did all the touristy things that we're always telling visitors to do, but we've never done ourselves. We had a blast!

That looked like fun and your children are precious!!! Just moving here in January we are finding it hard to believe anyone ever says there isn't anything to do here! We feel like every weekend we are on vacation!
