Below is a list of the pediatric dentist that are on my insurance plan. I was hoping someone out there has anything to say about any of them. If they are negative, please DM me with your experience. Thanks.

Banker, Cynthia A., DDS and
Mueller, Brett H., DDS both are with San Pedro North Pediatric Dental

Doose, James Michael, DDS
Thousand Oaks Children's Dentistry

Not sure if they are on your list, but Dr. George Gutierrez on McCollough is awesome. Unfortunately his front desk person is a bit of a turn off for me ... but we still go because we love Dr. George.

I second Dr. Doose (Doe-Say) He is really awesome and terrific with kids! We have had personal experience with him. He really was a sweetheart and his staff at the time (2002-03) were really helpful and sweet! I think you would really like him! I hope it works out!

Dose Dr. Doose have a "child friendly" office? Like bright colors, tvs etc.? The one we went to was a really nice dentist but the office is OLD and cramped & it made ME claustrophobic. Dr. Doose is on our plan so if he is a great doc. with nice offices - a change is near

I havent been to his office since 2003, but at the time it was what you would expect from a childrens dentist. He also had bins for the kids to choose prizes from after their visits. Its pretty child friendly IMO.

If someone happens to have your child's last explanation of benefits from their last dental appointment can you tell me what dentist you used and what they charged for 0120 & 1120 (basic exam & cleaning)?
Last dentist I went to charged me double what my fee schedule on my insurance allowed so I had a pretty hefty out of pocket expense.
I called around and they won't reveal that over the phone.

If the dentist was IN NETWORK with your insurance than the amount over the contracted or allowable amount should be written off by the dentist and you wouldnt be charged anything than your % for the services, if any. If you have a PPO type plan I suggest an in network DDS.

There is no network. It's BC/BS of Texas. There is a fee schedule & they allow the same amount no matter where we go.
It looks like the Dentist charges aren't over what they should be because based on Pobre's post the difference between what I was charged and what SOPD charges was only $8, my allowed amounts are lower by $12.
Thank you for the list Pobre, it helped a lot.
