I need to find an authentic Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant in town for a project. Anyone have any recommendations?

Check out SA Eats (SAeats.com) they have a great listing of local restaurants and reviews.

I would gather that "teppanyaki" would include such restaurants as:

Benihana off of IH-10
Formosa Garden off of 410
Osaka Steak and Sushi on Broadway

"Sushi & Teppanyaki", located at 281/1604...kind of in front of Costco and Wal-Mart.

There is Tokyo Steakhouse off of San Pedro. Great food and fun experience. They have about 4 chefs but my favorite is Shamu...hes awesome.

Their prices are not outrageous and the only complaint i have is that they charge per drink.. like a refill on a soda or something. but oh well.. great food. Good luck.

Formosa Gardens is Chinese from my recollections. (not depending on them much right now)

Indeed, I suppose that this would not be "authentic japanese". They do howerver reserve for hibachi/teppanyaki style dining. They also have a decent sushi menu.

From what I understand, "Teppanyaki" is actually a Western-style of Japanese food cooked in Japan to attract Western tourists. It would be similar to what Tex-Mex would be in Mexico City.
